School Fundraiser

Every year we run a sponsored Readathon as a school fundraiser. This is the only fundraiser which benefits the school and your children’s education. Last year we used the money raised towards the new garden beyond the hall. It has been a wonderful addition to the school and the children will continue to enjoy it for years to come.

This year we will use the money to help keep the swimming lesson costs to €50 per child. The real cost of swimming plus the bus there and back is €110 per child.

The children have a sponsorship card and are asked to set a target (more than they normally read) of reading a certain amount of books over a fortnight starting on Friday 21st and finishing on June 4th. They then seek sponsorship from friends / neighbours /relations to read extra. The infants should read extra books with their parents. Sponsorship money will be collected from Mon 24th to Fri 28th at 9am at reception by the Parents Association.

The sponsorship cards will be stamped and returned to the teacher and will be used as a ticket to a “Thank You” disco in the school at the end of June. If the card is not returned the child cannot attend the disco.

We ask you to help your child take part in the Readathon- it is the only fundraiser we have. It benefits the children’s education and means you pay less than half the cost of swimming.

School Tours

School tours have been organized for every class by now. We have put great emphasis on finding a tour that is suitable, enjoyable and budget conscious. Please make sure you have paid the teacher and signed the permission form.

Farewell

On Friday we say farewell to Louise Patterson who has worked in the Project Room for three years. Many parents have met her through after- school activities and holiday camps. We thank her for the wonderful contribution she has made to school and wish her well in her new position.

Internet Access

A number of senior class pupils have Bebo and Facebook pages. Parents should be aware that their children are posting photos and information about themselves that anyone can access. Please check what your child is posting and see if you are comfortable with the content being available to all. Parents should be vigilant and internet access needs to be supervised at home.
