Microsoft Partners in Learning Forum

This year Ms McHale with 3rd and 4th class will be continuing the work of 5th class with the Birds of Bray birdwatching project.  Ms McHale will be presenting the project in Washington in November at the Microsoft Partners in Learning World Forum.  Good luck to all of you.

Microsoft Partners in Learning Global Forum

Ms McHale was in Washington from 7th - 11th November to present the Birds of Bray birdwatching project at the Microsoft Partners in Learning Global Forum.  5th, 4th and 3rd class have worked hard on the project and were delighted to receive an award.

They were awarded 2nd place for their project, in the Extending Learning Beyond the Classroom Category.

This has been a busy term for 3rd and 4th, and especially 5th class.  Following their great success with their Birds of Bray project last year, 5th class have been appearing all around the place.  In fact, they are becoming celebrities.   Last year they appeared in the local paper.  An article about their project was published in the teacher's In Touch magazine

They have also appeared on Television.  They were interviewed by RTÉ News2Day and featured on the RTE Six 1 news (at 43mins and 50 seconds).

Eircom Junior Spider Awards:

Our school website has been entered into the Eircom Junior Spider Awards.  Keep an eye on our progress and let's hope we do well. As always, we appreciate any feedback from website readers, to help us to improve our page.

Hallelujah Choir:

Every year 5th and 6th take part in the Hallelujah Choir in the RDS.  They start in September and spend three months working on their wide range of songs.  A number of schools then come together for a huge performance in December.  They have already started practicing, and we have been given a little taster at our beginning of year ceremony.  We wish them the best of luck.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2011

On November 11th St.Philomena's School sent 143 boxes to Africa as part of the Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Well done boys and girls!
